More Than a Factory. A Place Where American Industry Began.
Every great company has a story.
Ours begins long before the founding of Wurtland Oil Works LLC.
It begins on the banks of the Ohio River, in eastern Kentucky, where generations of American craftsmen, engineers, and industrial workers helped shape one of the country's earliest industrial communities.
History and Inspiration
The name Wurtland Oil Works was inspired by the remarkable history of this place.
On January 14, 1864, the local post office was established under the name Oil Works, honoring one of the earliest kerosene manufacturing facilities in the United States that operated here. At a time when petroleum products were transforming transportation, lighting, and American industry, this small Kentucky community became part of that remarkable story.
Several years later, on February 28, 1876, the post office was renamed Wurtland, a name the town proudly carries to this day.
When we searched for a name for our company, we knew we did not want to invent one.
We wanted a name that belonged to this land.
A name that honored the generations of people whose hard work helped build American industry.
That is why we became Wurtland Oil Works LLC.
Respecting the Past. Building the Future.
The history of Wurtland is a story of constant transformation.
From iron furnaces and early manufacturing…
to petroleum…
to advanced industrial production…
each generation has embraced new technology while preserving the values that made this community strong.
We believe manufacturing should follow the same principle.
Honor tradition.
Invest in innovation.
Never stop improving

Our Founder
Wurtland Oil Works LLC was founded by Andrei Zapolsky, an American entrepreneur of Belarusian origin, philanthropist, and researcher whose career has been driven by a passion for manufacturing, technological innovation, and historical preservation.
Beyond industry, he is the originator of the concept and restoration project of the first medieval history park Sula in Belarus—one of Eastern Europe’s leading cultural and historical destinations.
Whether restoring history or building a modern manufacturing facility, his philosophy remains the same:
More Than Lubricants
More Than Lubricants
We believe lubricant manufacturing is about more than producing oils and fluids.
It is about creating products that keep industries moving.
Supporting customers who depend on reliable performance.
Investing in American manufacturing.
And continuing the industrial legacy that began in this remarkable community more than a century and a half ago.
